Once contact has been made between a potential client and myself, an appointment for the first session is made.
The session begins with a face to face consultation that takes place in a pleasant seating area just outside of my main hypnosis office. During this time, rapport between my client and myself is established to ensure that my client feels completely relaxed and comfortable. Any concerns or questions pertaining to hypnosis are addressed and answered: this usually takes the form of a short tutorial outlining how hypnosis works and explaining the importance of designing an action plan for the purpose of attaining specific goals or changes. The session continues with an interactive discussion about my clients particular issue, the desired changes and any potential challenges that have been preventing the desired changes from taking place in the past. As a consulting hypnotist, I am able to assist my client in specifically identifying both the issue and desired changes or goals. It is not within the professional boundaries of a consulting hypnotist to particiapte in diagnosing or analyzing.
Once the client and hypnotist have mutually decided upon an action plan, and have agreed to work together, the hypnosis phase of the session takes place.
My client is shown into my hypnosis office and invited to sit in a comfortable chair. As soon as I receive permission from my client to facilitate hypnosis, he/she is invited to close his/her eyes. Using a quiet, soothing voice, I proceed to guide my client into an altered state that invokes a deep mental and physical relaxation and a heightened state of suggestibility. Being in this hypnotic state allows the subconscious mind to accept positive changes and affirmations that my client has a strong desire and willingness to make. This portion of the hypnosis session can take between ten and thirty minutes, depending on how responsive and receptive my client allows him/herself to be.
As soon as a state of hypnosis is achieved, I use a variety of techniques and professional skills, including NLP and EFT in order to assist my client in establishing the desired positive changes into my client's subconscious mind. These changes can only be accomplished with the full cooperation, motivation and desire of my client. This phase of the session can take between 15 and 40 minutes. During each stage of the hypnosis session, my client is completely aware of his/her surroundings and is always in full control of his/her own thoughts and actions. My client and I are able to communicate either verbally or by some other chosen method if it is appropriate to do so.
After the work has been completed, and while my client is still in hypnosis, I offer personalized post-hypnotic suggestions and affirmations in order to reinforce the work.
Finally my client is gently emerged from hypnosis and invited to come back into a complete state of alertness. This takes only a few moments. Once my client is fully alert, the session is discussed and documented.
In order to achieve a greater success, my client is given instructions in self-hypnosis so that the suggestions can be continuously reinforced by him/her at home, over the following days and weeks. If any additional sessions are requested by the client, or recommended by me, the booking will be made before my client leaves the office.
